

Bob was born in Camden, New Jersey on December 31st, 1930. At age seven, his father Milton abandoned the family, so to be helpful to his mother, Bob went to live with his Aunt Minerva Herbert in Trenton NJ for three years. In 1940, he returned to the Clinton/Annandale area to be with his mother and three sisters. His beloved Uncle Harold supported his mother and the family and was a role model to Bob.
Bob graduated from Highbridge High School in 1950, where he met his lifelong sweetheart, Gail Hildabrant. They dated for seven years until they finally married on October 27, 1956.
Bob served in the National Guard reserves as a tank driver from 1950 to 1957 in Flemington Company C, 250 Tank Platoon. He helped establish an Elk’s Lodge in Annandale NJ and was instrumental in creating this community.
During and following high school, Bob worked in many capacities for a variety of companies. He made a career in New Jersey as a home delivery milkman for Darling Farms from 1961 to 1975. In 1976 the family moved to Orlando, and Bob took a job with Wise Potato Chips and shortly after, moved into a role at Wometco Vending from 1977 – 1993. He semi-retired at the age of 63. Afterwards, he worked as a part time driver for the St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church’s senior living day care center where Gail was a caregiver until 2012.
Once in Orlando, Bob joined the Knights of Columbus and became a 3rd degree member. He continued his involvement until his death.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother Edna Meyers Hartner Reed, his sisters Eleanor Hartner Hart and Marion Hartner. He is survived by his wife Gail Hildabrant Hartner, his sister Helen Hartner Cramer, his sons Robert B. Hartner and Donald F. Hartner and his daughters Theresa Hartner Weaver, Marie Hartner Smith, Donna Hartner Flowers and Sherry Hartner Reece, and his grandchildren Joshua Flowers, Desiree Flowers, Cameron Hartner, John Daniel Bolick, Jr., Ashton Hartner, Nicholas Bolick, Robert McName, Sebastian Reece, Sabrina Viera, Nichole Reece Biris, Helena McName, Sarah Reece LaMothe, Shadrach Hartner, Levi Hartner and six great-grandchildren.
Bob and Gail helped so many people. They brought many friends and family members into their home until they could get back on their feet. And Bob was known for his quick wit and sense of humor.
Bob loved to go camping and take road trip vacations with the family. He and Gail loved to dance and went often with their friends. He loved history and in early years, he loved hunting. He enjoyed woodworking, playing card and dice games and working puzzles.
A visitation will be held at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, located at 994 E Altamonte Dr, Altamonte Springs, FL, 32701, on December 14, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life will take place at the same venue from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 2300 Temple Dr, Winter Park, FL, 32789, on December 14, 2025, from 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
