

Betty Lou Shedenhelm, 80 of Amarillo passed away October 20, 2012. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2012 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with David Scott officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East. Betty Lou was born January 5, 1932 in Borger to King David and Mary Alma Pelts Brandon. She went into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, October 20, 2012 following a massive heart attack. Betty Lou graduated valedictorian from Borger High School in 1950. She married Roy Shedenhelm of Curtisville, Michigan on March 18, 1951. Family was very special to her. She was very creative. Betty Lou enjoyed knitting and crocheting afghans and scarves. Collecting any artwork with cardinals, painting clothing, and creating jewelry were hobbies she enjoyed. She spent many hours emailing friends and family. She and nephew Ray Dell Thrower spent hours researching their family history. She and Roy had been regulars at the Big Texan for Friday morning breakfast for many years. Traveling across the country visiting friends and family was something she enjoyed very much. She never saw a casino she didnt like. They frequently visited Sandia and Buffalo Thunder. Betty Lou worked for the Iosco County Welfare Department, Iosco County News Herald, Iosco County Medical Facility Home in Tawas City, Michigan. She was also employed by the U.S. Forest Service of Cadillac, Michigan and also by Bell Helicopter and M.A.P.S. in Amarillo. Betty Lou was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Elmo, Jack, Mack, Lucille, Rachel and Novelene. Betty is survived by her husband, Roy of Amarillo; daughters, Veronica and husband Stephen of Sioux City, Iowa and Cindee of Amarillo; son, Max and wife Trina of Ashville, Ohio; five grandchildren, Allan Walker, Brandon Walker and wife BobbieJo, Ashlee Jenkins and husband Eric, Max Brett Shedenhelm and wife Tiffany, and Paul Christopher; great-grandchildren, Brayden and AndieJo; very special nephew Ray Dell Thrower as well as many other special nieces and nephews; very special friends, Jim and Nancy Carter, Betty Helton, Matt and Marg Schmidt and John and Roann Gray.
