

Brenda Carol Guinn, 74, of Amarillo, passed away on January 3, 2025. She was born on June 7, 1950, to William Spain and Liselotte Alger. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and Christian, Brenda devoted her life to serving the Lord and doing His work.On December 28, 1968, Brenda married Osborn (Butch) Guinn, and together they raised two children and welcomed two grandchildren into their lives. Brenda worked for Amarillo Independent School District, beginning as a substitute teacher before becoming a home day provider for many years. As a housewife, she embraced the full-time nature of her role with love and dedication.Brenda had a knack for bringing laughter into the lives of those around her by sharing funny stories, jokes, and delightful pictures of monkeys and dogs on social media. She cherished telling stories about her past, enjoyed watching her dog, Angel play soccer, and took immense pride in her family's accomplishments—especially when her grandchildren graduated from high school, Rebecca graduated from college, and celebrated Rebecca's wedding. Brenda celebrated 55 years of marriage with Butch, and through this time, she hoped those around her learned the importance of unconditional love and giving a helping hand to those in need. Her hobbies included making tie-knot blanks, creating photo labels for friends, and volunteering at her church. Above all, Brenda loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed going to watch Buster sing. Brenda will be remembered as a remarkable Christian woman whose actions exemplified her faith and compassion.
She is survived by her son, Donnie Dale Guinn and wife Ashley E., of Amarillo; daughter, Kristy Dean Thurman and husband Gary P., of Aurora, CO; two grandchildren; Erick Shelby Thurman, Rebecca Anne Sullivan, one step-grandchild; three step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Osborn M. (Butch) Guinn; grandparents: John and Lillie Alger, Emil and Emma Scheu; parents: William Spain and Liselotte Alger; and one sister, Shirley Gale Hunton.
