Carl “Shorty” Collier was born on April 2, 1947 in Clayton, New Mexico to Earl and Gladys Collier. Shorty was a hardworking, lively man until his very last days. He lived for his family. Although he was not fortunate enough to have had grown children of his own, he was loved dearly as a father figure by his nieces and nephews, and as a grandfather to his great nieces and nephews. He was a kind, accepting man and loved his family and friends without condition. He was generous with his time and resources, and always available to lend a helping hand to anyone, never asking for anything in return. He was a cowboy at heart and loved horses, a passion he passed on to his surviving family. His constancy, his friendship, and his loving support will be missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Kimberly Collier and a sister Mary Ellen Brown.
He is survived by his sisters Nellie Collier and Ann Terbush and husband Gerald Terbush. Seven nieces and nephews: Rhonda Brashears, Dennis Pilgrim, Renee Anderson, Bobbye Bates, Johnny Eckert, Scott Terbush, and Todd Terbush. Along with eleven great nieces and nephews and sixteen great-great nieces and nephews.
