Born in Artesia, New Mexico, on December 19, 1948, she was the daughter of Charles and Dorothy Sanford. Carol graduated from Odessa High School and met her husband, Rick Garrett, during her high school years. Together, they shared 58 beautiful years of companionship, 55 of which were spent in marriage.Carol was a devoted mother who was deeply involved in her children's lives, always cheering them on at their sporting events. A passionate supporter, she cherished every moment spent watching her granddaughter play soccer throughout the years. With a warm smile and an open heart, Carol had a remarkable gift for making everyone around her feel special.Her community spirit was exemplified by her 33 years of service with the Amarillo North Lions Club and her involvement in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Carol was known as the "wind beneath my dad's wings," a title lovingly bestowed by Rick, reflecting her unwavering support in all his endeavors. She is survived by her husband, Rick Garrett; daughters Rhonda Garrett Sherwood and Kristi Garrett; granddaughter Emmerson Sherwood; nephews Bill Malone, Brett Malone, and Robert "Brady" Malone; as well as brothers-in-law Larry and Brenda Garrett and William "Bill" Malone. Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dorothy Sanford; sister Barbara Ann Malone; and nephew Brian Malone.Her legacy of kindness, love, and community service will be remembered by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
