Mr. Pace was born Nov. 22, 1935, in Salem, Ky., to Thomas O. and Lillie Mae Pace. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1954. He served in the Army and was stationed in Germany. He married Lois Payne and she preceded him in death in 2003.
He was a longtime member of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church. Mr. Pace was employed by Pantex until his retirement in 1997.
Mr. Pace was a true sportsman, for many years of enjoyment he played on several baseball leagues including the Pantex softball team. He was an avid bowler, where he and his three partners were the winning team for 12 years.
He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy Pace and Keith Pace.
Survivors include a son, Greg Pace of Amarillo; a brother, Kenneth Pace and wife Dixie of Lancaster; two sisters, Sue Davey and husband Tom of Tulia and Wanda Truelock and husband Travis of Dumas; and a host of friends, including the daily coffee drinking buddies.
The family suggests memorials be to Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Foundation, to benefit the patients at Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospice, 1600 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106.
