Doris was born Sept. 21, 1942 in Kingsville Texas. Her family moved to Amarillo TX as a young girl. She grew up in church and as a teenager met the love of her life Delbert. She knew she’d found the one. She married Delbert Stewart on July 23, 1959 and celebrated 63 of marriage. They lived in Amarillo except for a short time in K.C. & OKC but moved back to Amarillo in 1968. They lived and raised their two children, Debra and Duane in Amarillo. Doris had several jobs through the years. Working as a teacher’s aide for AISD, court clerk for City of Amarillo, Meter maid for City of Amarillo, a gas chart interpreter for Mesa Petroleum but had no bigger or greater job than being a loving spouse and mother. She was one of the most caring & giving souls you’d ever met right up to the last day shopping for Christmas! She was the best caretaker of our Dad as far back as I can remember. She is also a cancer survivor, she was cancer free up until she was called home. Although mom didn’t play any instruments, she enjoyed singing with the Stewart family while traveling in the local Panhandle churches. She enjoyed singing with Delbert while he played piano on Sunday mornings.
