Earl Glenn, a sweet and loving man, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Jim Smith officiating at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors 5400 Bell, Amarillo, TX.
Earl was caring and affectionate, known for his big bear hugs, lighthearted teasing, and contagious smile. Earl was an unforgettable person, and nobody was a stranger to him. He was compassionate and cheerful, and he enjoyed brightening the lives of those around him. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Earl's devotion to his country was matched only by his love for his family.
He met his soulmate and best friend, Royda Boyd, and they married on September 7, 1956. Together, they shared 68 wonderful years of love and companionship. Earl had a passion for watching western shows and doing puzzles, hobbies he enjoyed during his years with Royda.
Affectionately known as Baba by his grandchildren, Earl cherished the annual tradition of the Baba's March Madness, which has been celebrated for over 30 years. Earl was a carpet salesman for over 60 years, most of which he spent with Alamo Carpet. He knew all of his customers and could still tell you what carpet was installed in what house!
Earl is preceded in death by his parents, Brad and Gladys Glenn, his son Bryan Glenn, daughter Kimberly Glenn, Justin Hutchinson, and seven siblings.
He is survived by his beloved wife Royda, daughters Linda Young (and husband Gene) and Laurie Spurlock (and husband Brent), sister Sandra Becker, seven grandchildren: Dane Glenn (and wife Jordan), Caitlin Claypool (and husband Josh), Landon Young (and wife Kara), Ryan Young (and wife Christina), Mary Ann Spurlock, Russell Spurlock (and wife Madison), and Tharaka Peiris, along with eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends and a special care-giver, Dominic Luna, who will continue to honor his memory.
Earl's warmth, humor, and love will always be remembered. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to American Heart Association.
