

Edna Fay Duckworth Wood of Amarillo, born August 1, 1940, in Nauvoo Alabama, she passed March 1, 2021 in the home of her daughter, Sharon and husband Chrys Griffing where she had lived since the death of her husband, Jim Wood, in October of 2016.
She and Jim married May 4, 1962 and were married 54 years. She loved children, and opened a home childcare, early in their marriage. During the next 40 years, more than 100 children came through her doors, each of them loved as if they were her own. Many returning as adults to bring their own children for her to love and care for.
After retiring from home childcare, she went to work at Paramount Baptist Church in their Pre-school program where she helped gather and prepare the lesson material. She worked there 12 years and often said how much she loved her job and her co-workers. Edna also volunteered at The Church at Quail Creek in their Children’s program helping to prepare their lesson material.
Edna and Jim joined Amarillo Baptist Church in 1991, where they enjoyed many years under the leadership of Pastor David Vessey and then Pastor Shane Groff. Edna was an active member of the church and loved the friends she made in the 30 years of attendance.
She was proceeded in death by her father and mother, John Dallas and Alma Leona Duckworth and the love of her life, Jim Wood.
Survived by 3 children, Sharon Griffing and her husband Chrys, Paul Wood and his wife Patty and stepson Jim Wood and his wife Celia. Edna had 6 grandchildren, Aaron Wood and wife Hannah, Eric Griffing, Brittney Barrera and husband Jacob, Paul Ryan Herrera and wife Briana, Brian Wood and wife Melissa, Kim Vance and husband David. She also had 12 great Grandchildren with 2 more on the way.
Edna will be missed by both her family and friends.
