Coulter St. Arrangements are by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St. Grace, known as Gracie to her friends, was born Feb. 20, 1928, in Hackensack, N.J., to Otto and Josie Ocenasek. Gracie was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 2004, after 57 years of marriage. Gracie and John both loved Florida and spent over half their lives enjoying the sun, fishing and beaches. After the loss of her husband, Gracie moved to Amarillo to be closer to family. Gracie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She was a longtime member of the Order of Eastern Star and completely devoted to family and friends. Early in life Gracie worked as a waitress. In her later years, she could once again be found selling sodas and doing food prep at her son's concession trailer in numerous Amarillo events. Although it was difficult getting her to attend functions, once there, she became the center of attention to her friends. Survivors include two sons, Gordon and his wife Marie of Colchester, Vt., and John and his wife Luann of Amarillo; grandchildren including Craig and his wife Maurisa, Brian, Jason and his wife Samantha, Chesa and her husband David, Scott and his wife Leah, Jonathan, Justin and his wife Melissa, Katie and her fiance Jason, Becky and Sarah; and two great-grandchildren, Stephanie and David. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to the Shriner's Houston Hospital for Children, 6977 Main St., Houston, TX 77030; or the Amarillo Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), 11901 S. Coulter St., Amarillo, TX 79119. Friends and guests may pay their respects to the family in the Parish Hall following the memorial service.
