Gwendolyn Goyne, 84, of Amarillo, died on March 13, 2023. Funeral services will be at 10am, Monday, March 20, 2023 at Cornerstone Ministries at 1111 N. Buchanan St. Viewing will take place on Sunday, March 19, 2023, from 5-7pm, at Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel.
Gwen was one of five sisters. She was born in Phoenix, Arizona, to Boyd and Virginia Potts. Gwen attended Childress High School. She later attended college at Clarendon College, Wayland Baptist University and Amarillo College. Gwen completed nursing school in 1974. After moving to Amarillo, she worked for IBP and home health, until she retired in 2002. While she was in Plainview, Texas, she worked as a Director of Nursing and an Assistant Director of Nursing at a nursing home. In Childress, she assisted her late husband in the Butler Clinic. Gwen enjoyed golf, traveling in the RV, playing volleyball, and teaching Sunday school at her church. She was very artistic and excelled at oil painting. At the opening of the Pavilion and Bank of Southwest, her paintings were on display.
Gwen was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Dr. Robert Butler, of Childress, Texas and Jerry Goyne, of Amarillo, Texas; Two sisters, Sue Liles and Marlene Havins; and Granddaughter, Cindy Weiland.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Diane Hall and husband, David, of Boynton, Oklahoma, Son, Mike Hackler and wife, Mary, of Wellington, Florida, and daughter Jimi Hudson and husband, David, of Amarillo, Texas; Two sisters, Maxine Skinner, of Childress, Texas, and Rue Young, of Paducah, Texas; Grandchildren, Teresa Jones, of Levelland, Texas, Bobbie Jones, of Boynton, Oklahoma, Kylie Patterson, of Amarillo, Texas, Jeremy Hudson and wife, Sara, of Amarillo, and Konner Patterson and wife, Lacy, of Amarillo, Texas; Great-grandchildren, Kindrum Obenhaus, Ryan Littlefield, Aspen Ray, Courtney Hudson, of Amarillo, Landon Hudson, of Amarillo, Lyric Rollice, of Amarillo, Kenzie Bolton and husband, Kaden, of Plainview, Texas, Kaitlyn Weiland, and June Patterson; Great-great-granddaughter, Karsyn Bolton; and a grandson-in-law, Keith Weiland, of Plainview, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, Gwen requested donations to the Tunnel of Towers.
