Helen was born at home on March 6,1932, in the Squaw Mountain Community located in Jack county to Dallas and Oma Rhoades Jackson in the home her father had built. In 1934 a younger sibling, Lanoy, was born whom she absolutely adored. She attended school in Jacksboro, TX and at the young age of sixteen, married the love of her life, J.L. Little, on July 17,1948 in Squaw Mountain Assembly of God Church near Jacksboro, promising her mother that she would finish school. She worked at a cafe in Jacksboro while still attending school, becoming the first married student at the school. She kept her promise to graduate. They moved to Dumas, TX in 1950 for J.L. to work at the Shamrock Gas Plant and she worked at the Dairy Queen before they moved on to Amarillo in 1952. She then went to work for the Borden Company in the credit department. This was in the era when milk products were delivered to your home. You would place your order by fanning out your selections and inserting the card in the neck of an empty milk bottle on your front porch. She was proud to be the youngest person the Borden Company here in Amarillo had ever hired. By this time her work ethic had already begun to be established. They were thrilled, after ten years of marriage, to be expecting a child. They were blessed with their first child, Randy, in 1958 and a daughter, Pam, was born in 1959. Helen immensely enjoyed being a mother and homemaker. She gave her all to raising her children and giving them a solid Christian foundation, always leading by example. J.L. and Helen were dedicated to the Lord and to the church. They were members of Central Baptist for many years before becoming part of the founding members of Osage Fundamental Baptist Church. After being a stay-at-home mother, Helen did secretarial work, with her last position being secretary for the W.W. Holmes Oil Company. She was a loving sister, devoted wife, and an incredible mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a wonderful Christian role model for her family and joy and blessing to all who knew her. She will be well-remembered and very deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Oma, her brother, Lanoy, and her beloved husband of sixty-five years, J.L.
