

Ted Walker, 85 of Amarillo passed away at Pampa Regional Medical Center on Monday, November 19, 2012. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2012 at Llano Cemetery by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell. Ted was born August 15, 1927 at the family home in Amarillo to Gilbert and Jo (Parker) Walker. He attended school in Amarillo before being drafted into the Army Air Corp where he served 18 months in Wiesbaden, Germany during WWII. Ted worked at numerous jobs during his lifetime in Amarillo. He was an auto mechanic, worked for the Santa Fe Railroad, and was steel building installer, a maintenence man for the Amarillo Public Schools. He owned his own plumbing business for a short time before opening his own gas station and finally found a love for working as a paint and body mechanic and restoring automobiles. In March 1948 he married Geraldine (Jerry) Louise Blower and raised 2 children, Teddy "Ted" Dwain Walker and Peggy Jo Walker. In his spare time he enjoyed watching football and spending time with his 2 granddaughters. It could easily be said that Ted was a loiving husband and father. He was a person who was kind and generous all while possessing a caring heart for those who needed him. This is only surpassed for his deep faith and love for our Lord Jesus Christ. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 61 years, Jerry and a daughter, Peggy Jo. Ted is survived by his son Teddy, daughter-in-law Peggy Ann (Brown) of Grand Forks, N.D.; granddaughters, Amy Rene' Walker Lysne of Kansas City, Missouri and Cindy Gayle Walker Horras of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
