It became apparent right away that he had major medical issues. Jeffrey moved back and forth between Texas and the Washington, D.C. area to deal with these and live near extended family until he was 13. He then moved to Amarillo in 1998, where he lived until his death.
While challenged with severe disabilities, the one thing that Jeffrey did on-time and without any degree of limitation was smile. It was this smile that encapsulated the joy that Jeffrey would find throughout his mortal life.
It would be difficult to describe Jeffrey’s accomplishments and contributions when judged by worldly standards. He never spoke or walked, and could not take care of himself in any way. Yet, he was funny and kind, pure and loving. He taught those that chose to really see him that you can learn the true value of a person, and of life, without ever uttering a word. He endured much physical pain and many medical procedures with unwavering strength. He fought hard to survive and to love life in the process. Doctors estimated early that he might not live longer than five years, yet he lived more than three decades. He will be dearly missed by his family and those who knew him.
He was a member of First Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include his mother, Jennie Britt; his father, Lewis Britt; and a brother, Thomas Britt.
