We are saddened to announce the passing of Jimmy Burks, born on February 16, 1950, in Comanche, Texas. Jimmy, loving husband to Debra Burks, married in May 1984, was a devoted father to Kimberley and her husband Daniel Ames, Tommy, and his wife Terri Monk, Theresa and her husband Brent Cantwell, Johnny, and Brett and his wife Monica Brady.
He was the son of Raymond and Abby Burks, and a proud grandfather to 9 Grandchildren and 8 Great grandchildren. He had 5 sisters Rita Clark, Kathy Cook ,Mary Tally, Pam Sirmons and Nelda Shaffer Breazeale 2 Brothers Earl Burks and Randy Shaffer along with many nieces and nephews.
Jimmy attended Caprock High school and his received his GED and served in the United States Army In Vietnam and in the National Guard. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and watching John Wayne movies, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, 2 brothers and 1 son. His brother in law and mother in law.
He is survived by his wife, 4 children, 3 sisters, 2 brother in laws, grandkids, nieces and nephews.
Although Jimmy will be dearly missed, we take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace.
Rest in peace Jimmy, your memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved you.
A visitation for Jimmy Lee will be held Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I- 40 E, Amarillo, Texas 79118. A funeral service will occur Friday, August 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Memorial Park Funeral Home with Dr. Howard K. Batson officiating.
