The family will receive guests on Wednesday, October 03, 2018 from 6pm to 8pm in the Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Home, 5400 S. Bell. Funeral Services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, October 04, 2018 at Southwest Church of Christ, 4515 Cornell in Amarillo, with Lynn Camp presiding. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, East Mausoleum.
Jim was born in Mangum, Oklahoma on August 20, 1938 to Cleveland M. and Katie O. Williams. He was a graduate of Reed High School. He and his wife Wanda Sue Stover would marry on December 6, 1957, and together, they enjoyed 60 years of marriage. He was a country boy at heart. He was a farmer and rancher by trade, but he lived the country lifestyle. His hobbies included raising cattle and horses, and he was an avid team roper. He was a homebody by choice. Some of his favorite pass times were cups of coffee with his buddies at Love’s Truck Stop, a trip to the Bushland Co-Op, but most importantly, loving on his grand kids. He and his wife were members of the Southwest Church of Christ for many years.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Tavia, and one brother Windle Williams. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Sue, son Ronnie Williams of Amarillo, daughters Debbie Croft and husband Tim of Amarillo, and Tammy Halencak and husband Andy of Canyon; three grandsons Chris, Clay, and Clint; and one great granddaughter Lorelei Halencak; brothers Donald Williams and wife Jannet, and Terry Williams, and one sister Linda Thomas and husband Sonny.
