Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Childer’s Place, 6600 Killgore Drive, with Jeff Messer, chaplain, officiating. Arrangements are by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St.
Joan was born near Girard, Ohio, to Kenneth and Muriel Ferguson. She passed away peacefully on February 6, 2013 at Childer’s Place in Amarillo. She was the loving wife for 58 years to Donald Brauer until his passing in 2010. Joan and Don lived in Wilmington, Del., for most of those years. Since Don’s departure, Joan has been a resident of Childer’s Place, where she greatly enjoyed the company and fellowship of staff and other residents. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, David Brauer and Diana Brauer of Texas, and Christine Brauer and Mark Fellman of Maryland; her grandchildren, Benjamin, Michael and Aerwynn, Richard and Sally Brauer and Raymond and Janet Brauer of Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to Amarillo Humane Society, 3501 S Osage St., Amarillo TX 79118; or Alzheimer’s Association, 1400 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo TX 79106.
