

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 from 6pm to 8pm in the Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40 in Amarillo. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at 10am at Bolton St. Baptist Church, 2555 S. Bolton St. in Amarillo with Winston Curtis presiding. John was born on June 29, 1931 in Marysville, Ohio to Harry Sr. and Lelah (Overacker) Paver. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951. While enlisted in 1964, he married Mary Gwynndolyn “Gwynn” Maxey. He remained faithful in his service until his retirement from the military as a Staff Sargent in 1971. Gwynn and John relocated to Amarillo in 1971 where he would raise his family and remain until his passing. Following relocating to Amarillo, he took a job in Assembly for the Department of Energy at the Pantex Plant, from which he retired in 1992.
John is preceded in death by his son Russell “Rusty” Paver, parents, and six siblings; Clara Mae Ford, Charles “Ching” Paver, Gladys Ruth Rider, Dolly Gibson, Harry “Jake” Paver Jr, and Ted Paver. Those left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife of 56 years Gwynn Paver, Daughters Mandy McClung and husband Don of Amarillo, and Floye McCoun and husband Bill of Amarillo, Sons Monty Bennett and wife Christine of Kansas City, Missouri, and Michael “Dee” Bennett of Vancouver, Canada. He also leaves behind his adoring grandchildren Tina, Brian, Chris, Kim, Marisa, Heather, Nykescia, and Jason, great grandchildren Jenn, Tara, Jessica, Zayden, Amira, Hannah, Aidan, Bryar, Alex, Brooklyn, Annabella, and Delilah; and his great-great grandchildren Maci, Lincoln, William, Isaiah, and Wesley Nelson.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, or Bolton St. Baptist Church in honor of John R. Paver.
