Judy Ann Thompson, age 75, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on January 20, 2025. She was born on April 21, 1949, in Champaign, Illinois, to Thomas and Vera Creel. Judy was a devoted wife to Don Thompson, celebrating 57 wonderful years of marriage just days before her passing on January 17. Judy graduated from Caprock High School and had a successful career as a telephone operator at South Western Bell, where she worked for 35 years before retiring in 2001. She was a loving mother to her three children: Jarrett Thompson, Jonathan Thompson, and Jessica Evans. Judy was not only a devoted mother but also a cherished granny to her four grandchildren, with whom she created countless precious memories.
In her leisure time, Judy had a passion for bowling and rarely missed a craft show. She embraced the role of a second mom and grandmother to many, welcoming the friends of her children and grandchildren into her heart.
Judy is survived by her husband, Don Thompson; sons Jarrett Thompson; daughter Jessica Evans and husband Paul; her grandchildren Landri and Gavin Thompson, Colton Thompson, Kody Shipman and wife Kourtney; and her dear siblings, sister Alice Sims of Amarillo and Wanda Wessler of Kansas City, Missouri. She is also remembered fondly by her nieces, Jennifer Strout and family, Rebecca Wessler and family, and nephews, Jeff Sims and family, Tom Sims and family.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Vera Creel; her brother-in-law, Clint Sims; and her son, Jonathan Thompson.
Judy will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She touched countless lives with her kindness and love.
