He was born on December 26, 1940 in Littlefield, Texas to Leonard and Claudine McFarlin.
Wayne graduated from Tucumcari High School, then joined the Navy. Soon after he served his country, he met me, his future wife, Louise Guinn in Santa Rosa, New Mexico. My girlfriend, Sue, dared me to speak to him, so she could meet him for herself. Sue and I walked up to the man, Leonard, in the truck and introduced ourselves to him. After that he met me every week to eat lunch, soon after, we set a date for the movies, we did this for two weeks. Wayne called me after this and asked me what size ring I wore. He brought me a ring, but we had to keep it quiet because he had not talked to my father yet. My friend Sue, Wayne and myself went to the movies and Sue pushed me out of the way so she could sit next to Wayne. After the movie we all went to a restaurant and I put on my ring which embarrassed Sue. This all worked out for us since we were married for 65 years. Wayne acquired the nickname “Candyman’ which he was proud of, when our children were little, they would bring other kids home, he was a wonderful man to all the kids, and they all called him "dad". He graduated from Amarillo College with an electrical degree. Wayne was a work alcoholic, at the time he passed at the age of 82 he still worked at Pride Home Center as an electrician and plumbing helper.
He is survived by his wife; Louise Guinn McFarlin, one son; Tommy Dale McFarlin of Amarillo, two daughters; Nancy LaVon’ McFarlin of Ashtola, Michelle Rene’ McFarlin of Amarillo, 7 grandsons, 19 great-grandchildren, one brother; Marvin Lee McFarlin of Amarillo, and one sister; Betty Jean Taylor of Seaton, Colorado.
