Mrs. Sloan was born July 31, 1948, in Ardmore, Okla., to Henry and Margaret Leach. She was raised in Dumas and attended Dumas High School. She moved to Amarillo in the early 1970s and received a real estate license from Amarillo College. Linda married Emory Andy Sloan on Dec. 13, 1981.
She worked for Franklin Serum Fort Dodge Laboratories before being employed at Texas Tech as a lab tech and retired in 2005 after 15 years of service. She was a member of Moose Lodge and enjoyed crossword puzzles, bowling and fishing, and loved animals.
She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Sloan, in 2000 and her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Emory Andy Sloan of Amarillo; three sons, Thomas Abernathy of Clarendon, Jeff Abernathy of Amarillo and Shawn Sloan of Big Bear Lake, Calif.; a daughter, Deanna Alderete of Amarillo; a brother, Henry “Butch” Leach of Clarendon; a sister, Beverly Mayeaux of Newport News, Va.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
