L.N. “Buddy” Mayes passed away on October 28, 2016 at the age of 78. He lived a life most would envy and left this earth to join his Lord in heaven, surrounded by those he loved most in the home he shared with his wife of 57 years, Rosemary. He was born in Bogota, TX on January 21, 1938 to Velma Faye Maudlin and Archie Paris Mayes. He married the love of his life Rosemary Alexander on March 20, 1959 and they began a life together nothing short of a fairy tale and went on to have three beautiful children. He began working for the post office in 1958 and retired in 1990. Although he had retired he then went onto nosiness for himself owning and managing rental properties where he found great success, and what a brilliant business man he was! He had a smile that could light up a room and left a lasting impression on everyone who was blessed enough to meet him. He was an epitome of love, passion, forgiveness, loyalty, charisma an intelligence. He loved to travel, spend time with loved ones, sit on his porch swing and share stories of the incredible life he had been blessed to lead. He fearlessly lead his family by setting and incredible example for them, simply by being a man of god with a heart of gold. He doted on the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren and bragged about them to anyone who would listen! He will be terribly missed by those who loved him the most.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and a son Mark Allen. He leaves behind a beautiful wife Rosemary Mayes of Amarillo, TX , 2 children: Ronald Mayes and his wife Allison of Scottsdale, AZ and Robyn Bridges of Amarillo, TX, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Association for Frontaltemporal Degeneration.
Arrangements under the direction of Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, Amarillo, TX.
