Louis Dale Ruthardt

Louis Dale Ruthardt passed from this life into the arms of his Heavenly Father December 22, 2015. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Groom United Methodist Church in Groom, Texas with Reverend Todd Dyess officiating.

Burial will be at Groom Cemetery by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell.

Louis Dale Ruthardt was born August 18, 1942 in Wayside to Manuel and Elizabeth Ruthardt. The family moved to Groom in 1945 and Louis graduated from Groom High School in 1960. He married the former Judy May Brown April 12, 1964. Louis was a lifelong farmer and rancher and worked for the Department of Transportation for eighteen years. He was a long-standing member of Groom United Methodist Church where he served on many church boards. Louis was also involved in his community serving on the school board and the CO-OP board. He loved working the land and harvesting his crops. More importantly, he loved having fun with practical jokes and laughing with friends and family. He adored his kids and grandkids and enjoyed attending their many activities. Louis was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Arletus Ruthardt and a granddaughter, Tonni Ruthardt.

Louis is survived by his wife, Judy Ruthardt; four sons, Travis Ruthardt and wife Tonja of Hedley, Rex Ruthardt of Groom, Ken Ruthardt and wife Missy of Edmond, Ok, and Brice Ruthardt and wife Jeannie of Bushland; a daughter, Judith Ingle and husband Jerome of Groom; a brother, Bill Ruthardt and wife Judy of Linden; a sister, Almeta Currie and husband Dwain of Linden; sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Groom United Methodist Church or the Groom Ambulance Service or Fire Department.
