

Mack Harms, 86 of Amarillo passed away March 1, 2013. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Memorial Park Cemetery East Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Danny Logan of Bell Avenue Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell, Amarillo, Texas. Mack was born November 19, 1926 in May, Texas to Walter and Florene Harms. He joined the United States Navy out of high school and served his country proudly during World War II. Mack was a Master Carpenter and Home Builder for over 60 years. He married the love of his life, Alvana Meier on May 5, 1961 in Amarillo. They were long time members of Bell Avenue Baptist Church. Mack was his daughter’s Kid’s Inc. softball coach during their childhood. He was an outdoorsman and loved to fish and love to prospect. Mack was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather and will be greatly missed. Mack was preceded in death by his parents; and 3 brothers, Johnny Harms, Kenneth Harms and James Harms. Mack is survived by his wife, Alvana Harms of Amarillo; daughters, Melody Brooks and husband John and Melissa Burns and husband Robert both of Amarillo; brother, Vance Harms and wife Karen of Coleman; sister, Evelyn Buttel and husband Jerry of Amarillo; granddaughters, Amy Burk and Julie Burns both of Amarillo; great-grandchildren, Dakota Burns, Ayslinn Burk and Ledger Burk all of Amarillo; also his sisters-in-law, Mariann Harms of Amarillo and Ann Harms of Abilene.
