

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40.
Born Sept. 29, 1924, Marge grew up living a simple life in Olney, Ill., with her dear sister, Beulah. Harsh economic times led Marge to develop a strong work ethic and deep care for the success of those around her. Having left school as a teenager to work in a photography studio, she maintained this employment during her marriage at 16 to Ray Dale Thomas and the birth of her daughter, Sandra. In 1953, Marge moved to Texas and married James “Jim” Whiteley, to this union, two daughters, JoAnne and Debbie, were born. Marge worked for the Air Force for 22 years as a commissary manager in Amarillo, San Antonio and Rantoul, Ill., allowing her to travel much of the world. After retirement in 1986, Marge settled in Amarillo, where she lived with JoAnne and Barney until her death. For many years, Marge served as chief cook for Second Baptist Church. Throughout her life, Marge served the Lord as a caretaker to everyone around her, both young and old. Marge enjoyed cooking, knitting, cross-stitching, painting ceramics and spending time and playing card games with precious friends and her great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Ladd; and a grandson, Michael Ladd.Survivors include two daughters, JoAnne Barnhart and husband Barney and Debbie Keen and husband Bob; a sister, Beulah Totten; four grandchildren, Sabra Gore and husband Kenny, Trint Ladd and wife Tammy, Jana DeArmond and husband DeArno, Bob Barnhart and wife Amy; 13 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice of the Southwest, 6600 Killgore Dr., Amarillo, TX 79106.
Visitation will be at 4 p.m. Sunday June 12, 2016 at Griggs-Schooler-Gordon 5400 S. Bell St
