May 23, 1940 – November 4, 2024
Martha Modenia Lynch Woodard was born on May 23, 1940, the fifth of six children, in Whiteflat, Texas to Lila and Arthur Lynch. She moved to Amarillo in the late 1940s and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1958. She met and married Jess Talmadge Woodard in August 1958. They were married for 61 happy years. They had two daughters, Savannah Woodard McClure and Carrie Layne Woodard, with whom they attended Central Church of Christ.
Martha was a very generous person, always willing to help others. She loved buying gifts and making birthdays and holidays special. She had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. Las Vegas was one of her favorite places, and she traveled there many times through the years with friends and family.
Martha began her career at the Hollywood Department Store in the late 1950s and retired in 2014 as office manager/bookkeeper for All Star Sheet Metal and Roofing.
Martha cherished the life God created and cared for all living things, a trait she passed on to her descendants. She was a grandmother to four and great-grandmother to one. She will live on in the cherished memories she created.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents Lila and Arthur Lynch, her husband, Talmadge, her siblings, Robert Lynch of Tacoma, Washington, Billy Lynch of Omaha, Texas, James Lynch of Rockaway Beach, Oregon, Lola Allison of Amarillo, Texas, and Buck Lynch of Temple, Texas. She is survived by her daughters, Savannah McClure of Dallas and Carrie Woodard of Amarillo, and an almost daughter Cindi (David) Jones of Tyler, her grandchildren, Taylor (Sarah) McClure of Forney, Emily (Landon) Lambert of McKinney, Adam Hamon of Amarillo, Brayden Jones of Denver, and, finally, her great-granddaughter Isabelle Lambert. Numerous nieces and nephews from across the country.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Interim Hospice for the special and tender care she received, and to the Heritage Convalescent Center. We know that Mom is with God, Daddy, and all those who went before her. What a reunion there was in Heaven. Martha will be missed, and her memories will be cherished.
