Mary Kate Hunter

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Pastor Jerry Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40.

Mary was born Feb. 11, 1935, in Altus, Okla., where she was raised by her grandmother. She married Ray Hunter on Dec. 28, 1951, in Clovis, N.M. Mary was a housewife and raised her children in Amarillo, where she was active in her children’s school activities including band parent when two of her children were in band. She was very active in the Western Swing Music Society of the Southwest and North Beacon Church of the Nazarene. She was a loving, giving person, who always wanted to help others.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Katie Holcolmb; her father, Guy Louis Austin; a step-mother, Hazel Austin; and a son, Garland Joe Hunter.

Mary is survived by her husband, G. Ray Hunter of Lindsay, Okla.; daughters, Guynell Cannon and husband Jerry of Lindsay and Melody Townsend and husband Terry of Pauls Valley, Okla.; a son, Randy Hunter of Pauls Valley, Okla.; granddaughters, Cory Coe and husband Rick of Hickory Creek, Jenny Rogers and husband Tim of Lindsay, Jamie Townsend of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Katie Johnson and husband Grant of Pauls Valley, Okla.; great-granddaughters, Brenyn Coe of Hickory Creek, Maegan Bartee of Lindsay, Macy Rogers of Lindsay and Savannah Johnson of Pauls Valley; and great-grandsons, Zack Coe of Hickory Creek, Cole Bartee and Thad Rogers, both of Lindsay and brother, Jim Austin and wife of Alice of Panhandle also by numerous nieces and nephews.
