

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday May 17, 2013 in Southlawn Assembly of God, 4300 S. Bowie St., with the Rev. Jerald Middaugh officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St.
Maxcine was born May 3, 1925, in Cooper to Thomas and Julia Huie. She married L.E. Cox. He preceded her in death in 1998. Maxcine retired from Coca-Cola Refreshments Vending in 1987 after 20 years of service. After retirement, she was a child caregiver to many children that called her, Mam Maw. Cooking was one of her passions and she loved preparing wonderful meals for family and friends. She was a member of Southlawn Assembly of God for many years.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include a son, Edward Cox and wife Linda of Cypress; two daughters, Carolyn Hasley and husband Randy of Amarillo and Sue Fry and husband Tim Libby of Lawton, Okla.; a brother, James Huie of Salem, Ore.; two sisters, Tina Kawaauhau of Stockton, Calif., and Ima Dean Wolozin of Modesto, Calif; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Johnnie Shuping and wife Linda of Amarillo; several other nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Barbara O’Bryant
of Amarillo.
The family would like to give thanks to the staff of Hospice Care of the Southwest for the great care they provided Maxcine.
The family suggests memorials be to Hospice Care of the Southwest, 6600 Killgore Drive, Amarillo, TX 79106.
