The family will receive guests on Friday, September 14, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Home, 5400 Bell St. A Graveside service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on September 15, 2018 in Llano Cemetery East, Garden of Prayer, with military honors provided by Volleys for Veterans Amarillo. Celebration of Life services will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Griggs-Schooler Gordon Pioneer Chapel, with Danny Logan presiding.
Nell was born in Lakeview, Texas on March 30, 1922 to Weymon and Eula Faye Davis. She married Burnie Scott in Sweetwater, Texas on December 10, 1947. During the Second World War, Nell joined the United States Army in Camp Barkeley, Texas to serve because her brothers who were drafted earlier. After serving her country, she settled into family life where she became a wonderful homemaker, and she and Burnie raised their five children on the family farm. The family would relocate to Amarillo in 1978 and she became a sales clerk for High Plains Religious Bookstore for nearly a decade. She enjoyed collecting Precious Moments figurines. Her many hobbies included quilting, sewing, and gardening. Some would say her favorite pass time was playing a good game of dominoes, but most importantly, she was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend to all.
She was preceded in death by her parents Weymon and Eula Faye, three brothers and three sisters; Husband Burnie; sons David(Butch) and Ralph; and her son in law Hal Owen. Those left to cherish her memory include sons Russell and Stanley, and daughter Nancy Owen all of Amarillo; brother Bill Davis of Amherst, sisters Patty Vincent of Sudan, Helen Ogrodnick of Warrior Run, PA, and Sheria Evans of Amarillo.
