Nancy was born on August 17, 1939 to James Delter Hawkins and Lora Mae Kyser Hawkins. She attended Horace Mann then attended Palo Duro High School in the first class graduating in 1957 after the school was built. Her class had the honor of choosing the school colors and the Mascot that we all have come to love as Palo Duro Dons.
She married George Gulish on May 8th 1981. She was a registered nurse for 27 years. She was on the team at Northwest Texas Hospital that delivered the first sextuplets in Amarillo. She later moved to a private doctors practice of family medicine to work more closely with her patients. She loved people and enjoyed serving them in a closer environment to be more active in their lives.
She loved serving the Lord and people. She served as a Sunday school teacher for 3 years at Chaparral Hills Baptist church. She then served as a Sunday school teacher for 24 years at Lighthouse Baptist church. The people at the church were her second family and she loved her church and church family.
She was an avid racecar fan. Dale Earnhardt was her favorite driver and she followed him throughout his racing career. She bowled for 20 years on leagues and enjoyed the camaraderie of her teammates. She enjoyed painting, and had a knack for it, and created some beautiful paintings.
She is survived by her son, Duaine Kruse of Amarillo TX, her daughter, Lori Sorrell and husband Jerry of Midland TX, her sisters, Susie Marthaller and husband Bill of Amarillo TX, and Judy Cope of Trenton Missouri, her brothers, John Hawkins, of Amarillo TX, Barry Hawkins and his wife Peggy of Amarillo Texas, Jimmy Hawkins of St. Louis Missouri. She had 5 grandchildren, Jacque, Jessica, Justin, Trisha and Christina and 5 great grandchildren. She was fortunate to have a large family and had a very loving extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mom, Lora Mae Hawkins, her dad James Hawkins, her husband, George Gulish, her brother James Hawkins, her sister Frances Scaggs and her brother-in-law Frank Scaggs.
