My relationship with Pearl began when I was 7 years old.   I began taking piano lessons from her at her home.  She was fresh out of college & had one child, Valarie at the time, who was less than a year old.  I can’t remember how many years I took lessons from Pearl but it was for several years.   Back then; which would have been around 1955/1956; she charged $0.75 a week for lessons.  I don’t remember if that was for a half hour or a full hour.   Years past & our paths didn’t cross for many years.  My parents were members of Amarillo Baptist Church & so was Pearl.   I visited there & joined the church.  Pearl was the only instrumentalist at the church; I started playing the piano & Pearl played the organ.  I did not know until just a few years ago; Pearl told me I was her first piano student.  I counted it a wonderful honor to be playing with Pearl after so many years & I think she did also.  We played for many years together there at the church.   I remember Pearl as one of the kindest people I ever met.  She was a very dedicated Christian woman; she walked the walk & talked the talk.   I will miss her lovely smile & her chipper demeanor. I’m so sorry for your loss. She was such a sweet lady, a great teacher and role model for so many people, including myself.  I know she’ll be greatly missed. 

Heaven gained an Angel… My Aunt Pearl was calm, kind, loving , gentle and basically all the fruits of the spirit.  It was obvious that she loved the Lord and her faith was strong . She will truly be missed. 🙏❤️🙏

I took piano lessons from her for about 10 years. I then went to WTAMU as a music education major. I breezed through freshman Theory because of Mrs. Jeffers. She taught me so much! She taught me how to be musical, not just a technician. She was so nice and so kind and she was always in it for the right reasons, the kids. I really appreciate her, her testimony, and her work ethic! What a great lady!

Grammy, or Gram as I often called you,
I will be missing you dearly. A little piece of my heart will be forever gone. As a little girl growing up in your house, I loved to wake to the sound of your singing or piano playing either before students arrived on Saturday mornings or before you went to church on Sundays. I watched as you filled the table with all your study bibles and books you dove into just immersing yourself in the word, sipping coffee and telling me Goodmorning. I always thought “man my Grammy knows everything about the Bible” 
It was always comforting to know you were always there at school with me in case we ever needed anything. You loved us so much. As an adult I will cherish all the time spent fixing your hair, running errands with you and fighting for the check at lunch, you always told us”Let me because there will come a day when I can’t” and so you won most of the time. 
You left nothing unfinished here. You dedicated your life to telling everyone about Jesus including your family, and for that you are rejoicing forever in eternity. I will see you again one day, and when I do I will tell you how much I’ve missed you.

We are honored and blessed to be able to have Pearl in our life.  She always had a ready smile and sweet laugh even in illness. She was another grandmother to our daughter and could do no wrong. As my daughter told me when i was trying to explain  a  1st grade error, “Mrs.  Jeffers SAID!!!!   The number of lives she touched, witnessed to, and blessed is mind boggling. We will always remember you sweet lady. Love always to all the family. 

Pearl Ilene (Fields) Jeffers. Her mother Edith was my mother’s sister. To know Edith  (who we LaFavers affectionately called aunt Dodie) was to know Pearl Ilene and to know Pearl Ilene was to know aunt Dodie. Both true ladies, strong Christians and exceptional leaders in everything they did. My mother Ann LaFavers was the matriarch of the LaFavers/Fields clan until she passed. Aunt Dodie stood in her place as matriarch until she passed and Pearl Ilene has stood in her place as the family matriarch with dignity, integrity and selfless character. Pearl Ilene Jeffers has gone to be with the lord she has so loved all her life. I love her enough to rejoice and be glad in it. She will be missed by so many.

Pearl has forever been in my LaFavers/Fields memories. She’s the kindest sweetest God fearing woman and reminded me so much of her mom! We knew her mom as Aunt Dodi. She will surely be missed. 

We consider it a great blessing that all three of our children had Mrs. Jeffers as their first grade teacher. If she ever had favorite students nobody knew it but her, she made them all feel like favorites. What a lovely and loving person! We are so sorry we will not be able to attend her service on Friday. We will make a donation to City Church in her honor.  It is wonderful to know she is enjoying her first days in heaven with Jesus.

Mrs. Jeffers was a good friend of both my parents, she was also my first grade teacher and then my piano teacher for a few years after that. I’ve always remembered what a great teacher she was and how kind she was to everybody around her and how patient she was with her students. She was such a sweet person and she will be missed.

When at one of our family reunions, it came time to sign eachothers shirts.  When it came to Pearl, I wrote that she was SUPERLATIVE, which she really is.
