

Pedro was born on April 29, 1930, in San Benito, Texas, to Francisco and Flora Cantu. He lived most of his life in Texas, where he built a legacy of hard work, family, and love. Pedro was self-employed as a truck driver for many years before retiring. He had a deep love for working on cars and could often be found tinkering and fixing things. In his younger years, Pedro was also a talented chef and worked as a DJ, bringing joy to others through food and music. On August 7, 1949, Pedro married the love of his life, Agapita Garcia Cantu. They shared 69 years of marriage before her passing, a testament to their devotion and enduring love.
Pedro is survived by his sons: Pete Cantu of Amarillo; Ricky Cantu and wife Martha of Colorado; Mike Cantu and wife Trudy of Amarillo. His daughters: Anita Balderas and husband Manuel of Colorado; Mary Ellen Zarazua and husband Johnny of Lubbock; Beatrice Madrigal and husband Ernest of Amarillo; Dolores Gutierrez and husband Juan of Hereford; and Margie Austin and husband Steve of Hutto. He is also survived by 35 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, 51 great-great-grandchildren, and his brothers, Margo Cantu and Ramon Cantu.
Pedro was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Agapita Garcia Cantu; his parents, Francisco and Flora Cantu; his sons, Eddie Cantu of Lubbock and Paul Cantu and wife Kim of Fort Worth, Narcisso Cantu of Lubbock; his daughter, Sandra Cantu of Lubbock; his brothers, Sylvester Cantu, Francisco Cantu, Ricardo Cantu, Raul Cantu, Jose Cantu, and Juan Cantu; and his sisters, Nina Williams and Carmen Guerra.
Pedro will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his many talents, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on through the many generations he leaves behind.
