She was born June 4, 1924 in Amarillo, Texas, to Melvin “Bud” and Flossie O’Neil.
Peggy grew up in Amarillo, graduated from Amarillo High and then from Amarillo College with an Associate’s degree in business. She married James E. “Jim” Fenwick on December 10, 1949, and together, they had one son, Kelly Fenwick. Peggy and Jim were happily married for 59 years before his passing in 2008. Peggy worked as a secretary for the Superintendent of AISD, Amarillo Air Force base, Bell Helicopter/Textron and for the Ironworkers Apprenticeship Program. After many years of working, Peggy retired in the 1980s so she and Jim could travel in their travel trailer and gamble. Peggy enjoyed traveling, bowling, gambling and playing poker with the family during the holidays. She was quite the little poker “shark,” and even though she was well into her 80s, she would stay up until the middle of the night outlasting all of the youngsters for a good card game.
Peggy is survived by her son, Kelly Fenwick and wife, Melba; a daughter, Tanya Fenwick; three grandchildren, Brent Fenwick, Craig Fenwick and wife, Bailey, and Stephanie Dockery; and great-grandson, Nick Fenwick, as well as many cousins who were like sisters to her.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jim, as well as many beloved family members and friends.
She will be truly missed by all of her family and friends.
