Rafaelita Dometelia Arguello

Rafaelita was born to Jose & Lorencita Archuleta on October 27, 1929 at “El Ranchito” in Mosquero, NM. Rafaelita had five brothers and six sisters. Rafaelita attended Mosquero High School where she graduated. She married Eloy Arguello on September 27, 1948 and had five children. Rafaelita was a homemaker and also worked as a cook at the Yucca Café. Her hobbies included cooking, sewing and making crafts for veteran patients at the VA Hospital & Nursing Home. She volunteered most of her time to the community assisting with voter elections, community commodities and bingo at the American Legion and VA Hospital Nursing Home.

Rafaelita’s favorite vacation was going to the Archuleta Family Reunion at “El Ranchito” in Mosquero, NM. She wanted her family to experience what it was like to grow up at El Ranchito and how blessed we are today. Family time was very important and she wanted her family to keep the family tradition going.

Rafaelita was the First Unit President of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 77, which was charter in 1990 and remained an officer and mentor to all for 31 years. She received the Commander’s Appreciation Award in 1997, Member of the Year Award in 2001-2002 and Volunteer of the Year Award in 2004. Rafaelita participated on the committee for the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 77 Scholarship Fund.

She was preceded in death by a son Larry Arguello, parents Jose and Lorencita Archuleta and siblings Maria, Leopoldo, Procopio, Josephina, Abenecio, Pedrito, Santana and Polita.

Rafaelita is survived by her husband Eloy Arguello of 73 years and four children:

Barbara Arguello, Tucumcari, NM, Dorothy & Rich Wilson, Logan, NM, James Arguello and wife Alice of San Jon, NM and Nora Arguello & Ron Radford of Amarillo, TX.

Seven grandchildren, Steven Arguello, Valerie Gallegos, Rachael Gallegos, Heather Martinez, Calandra Schanzebach, Mendy Kaufmann and Danny Shetter.

Twelve great grandchildren: Tamara Butler, Jessica Aguilera, Andrew Aguilera, Josh Gallegos, Jacob Gallegos, Rylan Calbert, Logan Schanzebach, Parker & Nathan Kauffman. Hayden, Jaxon and Kinsley Shetter.

Ten great great grandchildren: Elexus Butler, Aaron Butler, Aliya Gallegos, Delilah Gallegos, Kamdyn Aguilera, Kaleb Sanchez, Eloy Aguilera, Isaiah Aguilera, Amalia Calbert and Caelan Calbert.

Rosary will be held at The American Legion Bingo Hall on March 25, 2022 @ 6pm, located

100 S 8th St. Logan, NM. Mass of the Resurrection will be held March 26, 2022 @10am

at San Antonio Catholic Church, located 907 Armijo St, Logan NM, with father

Johnpaul Afuecheta Akachukwu officiating. Burial will be at the Logan Cemetery.
