Many of us will never grow to truly know our grandfathers.. those strange and mysterious men who; work without tiring, have endless pockets of coins/dollar bills/candies, have endless strengths, find the time your parents never seem to have to give you special trips and toys, know how much you love orange sherbet push pops, have an ungodly amount of knowledge, have the patience of a lion on the hunt, and so much more. 

They hide their humanity and become superheroes we think can never be defeated. They are so perfect we forget they can be gone in a matter of seconds, they wear many hats and faces to show you hard work can get you anywhere and rarely ever show signs of distress. They are immune to pain and will stay that way until it’s unbearable. 

Many of us will never grow to know our grandfathers, because they shelter us from pain and spend time with us in a way that makes them seem like unstoppable, brooding but kind, forces of nature. 

So hug them a little tighter and longer. Thank them for being the men of mystery and giving you a childhood you’ll never forget. Thank them for being so perfect that you can’t fathom loosing them. Thank them for not letting you know them or their pain, struggle, and anguish. Thank them for giving you the time that they did and for giving you that feeling that only papas give. 

Thank them for not letting you know them and giving you a taste of unfaltering  pure life you won’t get with anyone but a papa.

This is to the man I called pops. I can't begin to say how much I love you. The strongest man I knew, the kindness most forgiving person I ever meet. You were and will always be my best friend the one that was there when I needed you pops you are one in a million you taught me how to be the man i am today I can only strive to be more like you. you are the strongest kindness most forgiving person I ever meet even in the face of death you thought of others before yourself. to my best friend, my father, my pops I LOVE YOU NOW AND FOREVER. You will be forever missed.

Dear cousin of mine. There is a hello after goodbye and we will be with you longer than we were without you. Loved him. So kind and sweet. He excepted Jesus as Lord. I know this because I personally talked to him. ROMANS 10:13. Says those that call upon the Lord shall be saved. See him soon again. 

Such an amazing Great-Uncle to grow up loving and knowing. You were always so kind and loving, always giving me a hard time and joking around any time I saw you. You held me in your arms during one of the hardest times in my life and I’ll forever cherish that moment. You welcomed my husband into the family; with that jokingly way you had about you. So many memories I’ll forever cherish. Love you Uncle Richard. 

I want to say Thank you for raising me to be the person I am. Showing me how to treat and love people. For always being there with your arms wide open. For the advice and always listening. You told me I was so much like you and that made me proud. I will forever be your baby girl and you my 10 foot tall Daddy. I will love you forever and I will miss you forever. Until we are together again. I love you, Sissy

Richard I am glad I knew you. Thank you for taking care of me when I was a child and letting me be part of your family. You will be missed. Praying for all.  Love sheree

Just wanted to say that Richardshas been in  me and Donna's life since we were little girls we would go stay the Summers with with Dee and Richard we always had a lot of fun he will be greatly missed we love you Richard prayers to all the family I got to talk to him before he left the hospital that was a good day love hugs and kisses aunt Charlotte and family y'all are always in our hearts

Richard we loved u dearly. You loved us like we were part of your immediate family. We thought of u as family. The kids loved u dearly. I will miss ur quirky jokes and ur unforgettable laugh that only u had. Til we meet again my dear friend. Rest easy and fly high. Love u my dear friend
