Rowena Crutchfield Looney

Rowena Crutchfield Looney, 89 of Amarillo passed away July 11, 2013. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday July 15, 2013 at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Home Pioneer Chapel 5400 Bell, Amarillo with Pastor Bobby Bradshaw of Lighthouse Church officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, July 14, 2013 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell. Mrs. Looney was born near Paris Texas on December 28, 1923 to William and Jessie Crutchfield. Rowena moved to the panhandle at an early age. She graduated from Clarendon High School in 1942. Rowena then moved to Amarillo where she met and married Herbert O. Looney in Vega in 1946. She was a homemaker involved in PTA, leader of Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, taught children’s church and Sunday School classes and attended Amarillo College receiving her paralegal degree. Mrs. Looney was a member of Lighthouse Church, Just Food Coop, and The Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1475. She is survived by her son, Richard O. Looney and wife Pamala of Houston; a daughter, Debbie Peters of Amarillo; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and a daughter, Linda Shaffer. The family suggest memorials be sent to The Heart Foundation of Amarillo
