Russell C. Wiley, of Amarillo, passed away on January 29, 2025, at the age of 85. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home, located at 6969 I-40 East.
Russell was born on June 6, 1939, in Tucson, Arizona, to Russell and Anna Wiley. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for over 25 years, traveling the world and making lifelong memories. During his military career, Russell had the honor of playing the drums for legendary musician Buddy Holly, a moment he was immensely proud of.
Russell married the love of his life, Mariette, on November 19, 2010. Together, they shared 14 wonderful years, creating a loving and supportive partnership. He was an avid fan of old western movies, enjoyed the action of James Bond films, and admired the legendary Audie Murphy.
Russell is preceded in death by his parents, daughter MaryAnn Perez, son-in-law Michael Perez, and stepson Bobby Labrecque.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife Mariette, children Mariette Chase, Shelley Battaglia, and Melissa Labrecque, and grandchildren Cassius Battaglia, Athena Battaglia, and Barry Wiley.
Russell’s family and friends will always remember his devotion, his love for music, and his kind heart. His memory will live on in the stories he shared and the lives he touched.
