

Sally Belle Oakley, 78 of Amarillo passed away March 28, 2013. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2013 at Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel with Dr. Howard K. Batson officiating. Sally Belle Oakley was born in Amarillo to Calvin and Nora Gruhlkey on July 15, 1934. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 28, 2013. Sally attended Amarillo High School. She married Billy Roy Oakley on December 21, 1951. Sally worked at Montgomery Wards as a sales clerk until they closed. She then worked at Texas Workforce Commission through the Senior Aides program. She enjoyed working there and took great pride in her job. Sally took care of her family. She learned everything she could about the medical field in order to take care of her husband and her sons. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was most recently delighted about her twin great grandsons born March 2012. She loved to brag about her grandkids and great grandkids to everyone who would listen. Her granddaughter gave her the nickname Grandma Moses and she embraced it by even signing cards with that name. She enjoyed looking at pictures of her family on her digital photo frame, listening to Billy Graham and reading her Bible. She also looked forward to going to dinner each week with her friend, Joyce Hicks. Sally was a member of First Baptist Church and also attended Sunday School at Paramount Baptist Church. She was loved by her family and will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Billy Roy Oakley, Jr in 1979; her husband, Billy Roy Oakley Sr in 1989; and her son, John Charles Oakley, in 2003. Survivors include her sister, Ramona Stephenson, of Amarillo; her daughters, Jo Beth Fancher; Sally Sidman and husband, Bobby; and Billie Gotcher and husband, Wayne, all of Amarillo. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stefanie Fancher; Christina Gibson and husband, William; Michele Gee and husband, Tim; Christopher Fancher; Shawn Gotcher and wife, Nicole; Jason Gotcher and wife, Shana; and Jill Brown and husband, Shawn. She is also survived by her great grandchildren whom she adored, Clayton Gambrell, Addison Gambrell, Brec Gibson, Samuel Gee, Calvin Gee, Ashton Gibson, Caleb Gee, and Sawyer Gee.
