Memorial service will be at 7 p.m. today in Griggs-Schooler-
Gordon Pioneer Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Pioneer Chapel with the Rev. Robert Celestino and the Rev. Johnny Granado officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St.
Mr. Contreras was born Oct. 17, 1916, in Concrete. He moved to Amarillo from Cuero in 1956. He was a member of the Temple of Praise Church. He enjoyed his family and telling good jokes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Basilea; two brothers; and six sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Ezekiel Contreras and wife Patsy and Ephraim Contreras and wife Cynthia, all of Amarillo; two daughters, Elizabeth Tello and husband Tomas and Esther Velasquez, all of Amarillo; a brother, Manuel Soria of Harlingen; a sister, Mary Garza of El Campo; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
