God decided that it was time for my father to enter His Kingdom.  I am sure my father did not have any trouble getting there, as he lived a very humble life.  God blessed him with many healthy and happy years here on earth.  He was in very good health for a man of his age and enjoyed life to the fullest. He visited many places and was a devoted Catholic.  Above all my father was a faithful husband to his wife, an amazing father to four fabulous sons and a proud grandfather to eight wonderful grandchildren.  My father was very soft-spoken, and a man of few words.  Other than a few words of wisdom when we needed it the most, he did not talk much. Come to think of it, why would he? My mom often did all the talking for him.  Some even thought my mom was raising five sons! My father, as soft-spoken as he was, in fact was the Sun of our family.  He was the Sun which brightened our lives.  He was the Sun which lit our paths.  He was the Sun which kept away the darkness. He was the Sun which dried our tears. He was the Sun which melted our fears, sorrows and shortcomings.  Now once again, he is our Sun shining brightly and watching over us from a place far above called Heaven.  May his soul rest in peace.  Good-bye to a wonderful father, until we meet again.

Everyone who knew my dad knows that he was a very gentle soul who never hurt anyone, never raised his voice at anyone and never complained about anything. He was a true gentleman who greeted everyone with a warm smile. He let my mom run the show, but he still left a big mark. He dressed impeccably, and boy, did he love to gamble at casinos. There is no doubt that he is in heaven watching over us.

Thank you God for giving us 91 years to make so many wonderful memories.

I don’t think I have ever met anyone that was as kind and caring as my grandpa. To say that he was someone I looked up to is an understatement. My grandpa is the type of person that I strive to be everyday. He never failed to make me laugh and spending time with him was something I always enjoyed. My grandpa always had the best advice and he always knew how to cheer me up when I was upset. I have learned so much from my grandpa and I will miss him dearly. 

If the past year has taught us anything, it’s that the most important thing we can do in life is take care of the people we love. Seeya took care of all of us. He was always there to offer snacks, tell a joke, or share a story. He was quiet, but he had a sense of humor that could fill any room with laughter. Seeya had an incredibly kind heart. While he may have been soft spoken, he was an attentive listener and was always there for us. His strength was an inspiration to us all. We miss you, Seeya.

My grandpa was a loving, caring, and huge role model to me. He took care of me since I was two. I will always be grateful for what he taught me. One of my favorite memories with him was when he would turn on the T.V for me and put PBS kids, not knowing it was in Spanish. So I would sit there till the show was over and quickly change the channel after. I never wanted to say anything because he was a humble person and I didn’t want to make him feel bad. I will forever miss my grandpa and remember how he has changed my life. 

My father was a very kind and caring man who imparted his wisdom and love on everyone that he met. Many strive to give the love and care that my father so easily gave. He will be greatly missed, but his memories will live in my family’s heart forever. We miss you Thatha. 

My dad was a man of noble qualities. The legacy he has left on our family is unmatched by any words that can be written. He will be remembered forever. May his soul rest in peace.


I recently read somewhere that “Grandfathers are magicians who create wonderful memories for their grandchildren,” and I now realize that this statement cannot be any more accurate. Because for the last 18 years, my grandfather (Seeya) was the ultimate magician, creating new memories each time I was in his presence. I always enjoyed the Friday and Saturday nights I spent with Seeya in the months leading up to his death, since they reminded me of what made him such a remarkable person. He had a incomparable wit, good sensor of humor, and unending love for his family and God. He knew how to make us feel special. To feel loved. And while it is still difficult to live in a world without him in it, I am beyond grateful for the all the sacrifices he made for my family to be where we are today. His footprint will be forever engraved on the ground on which I stand on.
