

A celebration of Alfred’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Ankeny Funeral Home.
Alfred Thomas Maclin was born February 5, 1946, to Floyd and Carrie (Toliffero) Maclin. Growing up in Tennessee, Alfred received his education before moving to Iowa City with his nephew, and later to St. Paul where Alfred took a position with the historic St. Paul Hotel. He made a career at the hotel until his retirement in 2012.
On October 30, 1993, Alfred was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Miller. The couple made their home in St. Paul and most recently built a home in Ankeny. Alfred enjoyed traveling, good music, grilling ribs, and a good game of scrabble or spades. He loved entertaining in his new home & trying to win every game of pool. Alfred was an avid basketball fan and tried to see every game of the NCCA or NBA finals.
Alfred will be deeply missed by his wife, Barbara; brother, Floyd Maclin Jr.; sisters, Watie Ruth Ellerson, Arnette Chism, Annette (Joe L.) Rawls, brother in law Steve(Sheri) Miller and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Suzette Maclin Fouse, Flossie Taylor, Aaron Maclin, and Lou Henri Currie.
