Ben was born in Page, NE on February 26, 1936 to Arthur and Violet (Barton) Terrill. He is survived by one sister, Audrey and preceded in death by three siblings, Daryl, Janice and Gerald. His family moved to Iowa when he was seven years old and graduated from Rembrandt High School in 1956. He farmed with his dad for a short period of time before attending Iowa State College (Iowa State University). After his time at Iowa State, Ben enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in San Antonio, TX, Biloxi, MS and Diabikur, Turkey. He met his wife, Beverly, a short while before going to Turkey. Upon returning home he proposed to her and on April 8, 1962 they were married. From this union, three children were born: Belinda, Bernadette, and Bradley. Respectively, their spouses are Jeff Brown, Rich Tucker and Sonya Terrill. Ben is survived by six grandchildren: Rachel (Brown) Nye, Adam and Brandon Tucker, Kelsey (Brown) Beneke, Ryan and Bailey Terrill. He is further survived by six great-grandchildren: Abbi Tucker, Ethan Tucker, Tyler Nye, Ainsley Tucker, Karlie Beneke and Addison Tucker.
After his military service he went to work for Control Data for three years, from there to Iowa Tech in Ottumwa starting the computer maintenance program. He then moved the family from Ottumwa, IA to Fort Dodge, IA after purchasing a mobile home park and sales. The family moved to Overland Park, KS in 1985 and then to Ankeny, IA in 1993. Ben’s last adventure was driving a school bus for handicapped students in Ankeny, which he really enjoyed. After he retired, he enjoyed working in the yard, caring for his strawberry patch and all of the roses and flowers.
Ben was a huge family man who loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His favorite pastime was engaging the kids and anyone who would join him in all sorts of card and board games.
