Brandon Michael Smith

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from Noon until 3:00 pm at The Tavern – West Des Moines, 1755 50th St, West Des Moines, IA 50266.

Brandon was born on July 16, 1983, in Des Moines, Iowa to David and Kathie Smith. He graduated from East High School in 2002. He also graduated from Sonoran Desert Institute with an Associate of Science Degree in Firearms Technology Degree. He graduated Summa Cum Lauda. Brandon enjoyed hanging out with Family and friends. He loved animals, especially dogs and cats. His real passion was building and servicing firearms. Brandon met and spent the final years of his life with his fiancé, Amanda Tremmell and her daughter, Lena.

Brandon leaves behind his mother, Kathie Smith; brothers, Nathan Smith, Nick (Crystal) Smith, Tyler (Austin) Smith; nieces, Skylinn, Cammi, Brielle Smith and, Kyra and Ellianna Davis and a nephew, Jaden Smith. A special thank you to the Wolfpack for being such good close friends of Brandon. He was preceded in death by his father, David Smith; maternal grandparents, Frank “Red” and Jane Briggs; paternal grandparents, Bert and Marcella Smith; aunt, Rhonda VonAhren, and cousin, Rob Sinclair.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to his mother, Kathie, and will be used for funeral expenses.
