

David McManus, 71, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2016, at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Ankeny. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Holy Family Church in Syracuse, New York with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery.
David Stanley McManus was born August 8, 1944, in Syracuse, New York to Stanley and Marlea (Burlingame) McManus. He grew up and received his education in Syracuse, and later graduated from Powelson Business School. On July 20, 1968, David was united in marriage to Cindy Church. The couple made their home in Syracuse and were blessed with two children; Dennis and Deborah.
David made a life-long career in the food brokerage business with Rieth, Hogan, and Hamer Inc., where he became a partner and sole owner. Following his retirement in 2000, David and Cindy moved to Ankeny to be close to family. While in Ankeny, David worked part-time with Hy-Vee.
David enjoyed golfing in New York, playing cards, and was an avid Syracuse Orange fan. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family who all held a special place in his heart.
David is survived by his son, Dennis (Debbie Snook) McManus; daughter, Deb (Eric) Long; and grandchildren, Alexa Long and Abby Long. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy; parents; and brother, Dennis McManus.
