Dennis Arlin Severson

Dennis Arlin Severson passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 17, 2016, at the age of 67. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 21, 2016, at 10:00 am at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley with Pastor Mike Rose of First Federated Church officiating. Interment will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church.

Dennis was born on February 2, 1948, in Ames, Iowa to Arlin K. and Ruth M. (Johnson) Severson, the oldest of four children. He married his wife Ellen Sue (Smith) Severson on November 22, 1977. A graduate of Ballard Community High School and the University of Northern Iowa, he continued his education by obtaining his Master’s Degree from UNI and an accounting degree from Iowa State University. He spent these last years retired from the dry cleaning business sharpening his culinary skills in the kitchen and his green thumb in his many flower and vegetable gardens. He recently joined the Story County Master Gardener's Association.

Dennis will be missed dearly by his loving family; his wife, his daughter Lindsey Ellen (John) Mills, three grandchildren, John “Jack” Paul Mills, IV, William Arlin, and Ellen Marie Mills; three sisters, Peggy (Bill) Wilson, Becky (Mike) Long, and Sharyn (Mark) Erickson; his in-laws William “Dub” and Margie Ellen Smith, brother in-law and sister in-law Mike and Kathy Smith, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
