Donald Cunningham, 79, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 at his home in Ankeny. A rosary will be held at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, April 26 followed by visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. vigil service at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Church. Memorial mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2012 at OLIH, 510 E. 1st St., Ankeny.
Don was born December 31, 1932 to Thomas and Elsie (Hansen) Cunningham in Cedar Rapids, IA. Don served in the Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Marsha Cunningham; children; Kevin (Sally) Cunningham, Mark (Kathi) Cunningham, Kelly (John) Hicks, Sally (Toby) Scully, Mike Cunningham, Sean (Renee) Hokel, and Shannon (Jeff) Burright; sixteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters, Mary (Bob) Schmidt, Sue (Steve) Kullander, and Cathy (Thom) Rawson; and brothers, Tom (Louise) Cunningham, John (Mary Ann) Cunningham.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Sally Sattler, brother, Richard Cunningham, and his infant brother, Michael.
