

A prayer service will be held at 5 p.m., Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Ankeny Funeral Home, 1510 W. First St. Ankeny, Iowa, with a memorial visitation to continue until 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Harold William Jensen Jr. was born on March 31, 1927, in Oak Park, IL to Harold and Eleanor (Harrison) Jensen Sr. He grew up in the Chicago area where he received his education. Following his graduation from high school, Bill enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country as an aviation machinist for five years.
Shortly after an honorable discharge, Bill took a position as a mechanic at Chicago Northwestern Railroad where his father also worked. He started his career in Chicago and was transferred to Boone, IA until his retirement. On February 3, 1951, Bill was united in marriage to Lois Blaney. The couple made their home in Boone and were blessed with two children, Robert and Rhonda.
Bill was a family man who loved traveling and spending time with his wife and children. He taught them the values of hard work and honesty. Bill had a passion for collecting and assembling model trains and railroad sets. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Vikings fan, and always enjoyed watching them play. During retirement, Bill was a regular at the Whistle-Stop Cafe for breakfast and lunch, and then Tic Toc Italian Steak House for evening dinner at 5 p.m.
Bill will be deeply missed by his daughter, Rhonda (Jim) Hanesack; grandson, Steven (Heather) Clark; great-granddaughter, Rayley; and great-grandson, Elijah Clark. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; son, Robert Jensen; sister, Patricia; and parents.
