John L. Schwery

John Lawrence Schwery, age 70, of Earlham, Iowa passed away suddenly at home on Monday, July 18, 2022. John was born on October 17, 1951, to LeVern and Cecelia (Petsche) Schwery. During his school years, he attended Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School, where he played in the band and wrestled. John did things that blind people didn't do like riding motorcycles with his brothers and doing anything that was outdoors. He enjoyed woodworking, completing house projects, and cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals.

He obtained his bachelor's degree from Faith Baptist College in Ankeny but worked as a telemarketer for Sitel Corporation in Carroll, Iowa. John spent many years in Silver Springs, Florida. Recently, John was attending the Crossroads Church in Earlham.

John is survived by his children, Abby (Ryan) Renze, and Calvin (Rachel) Schwery; grandchildren, Aubrey and Maxwell Renze; siblings, Nancy Hugeback, Mark (Betty) Schwery, Roger (Sue) Schwery, Dale (Sue) Schwery, brother-in-law-, Jerry Vonnahme; step-children, Brian Rogers and Kelly (Chuck) Frietsch. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, James, parents, daughter, Glorianna Schwery; first wife, Kim Salters, second wife, Anna Hogan; sister, Carol Vonnahme; brother, Galen (Betty) Schwery; brother-in-law, Virg Hugeback; brother, Richard Schwery.
