Katherine Sue Clayton

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Bondurant Federated Church, 103 2nd St SW, Bondurant, IA 50035. There will be a time of food and fellowship immediately following the service at the church.

Katherine was born July 22, 1969, at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota to Thomas Leonard and Linda Kay (Harmon) Dake. Kat graduated from Madrid High School in 1987. Kat had an associate’s degree from AIB in Accounting. After college Kat worked for Starr litigation, a trial consulting firm and McGladrey & Pullen, prior to marrying Brian and having Anna.

Kat was a beautiful woman, type A personality, a woman who showed great strength over the years as she battled the side effects of cancer treatments. While those words describe Kat, her life was colorful, as she navigated life with grace and strength.

Kat was the typical momma bear. She was grateful for the time she was given with Anna, and she made the most of it. Kat was proud of Anna, proud of her accomplishments, proud of the woman she has become and grateful she found Josh to be her husband.

Kat enjoyed quilting, she worked at a quilt store and did custom quilting, for those that understand she has a big stash. At one point she migrated into scrap booking and was on a design team for a scrap booking magazine as she was good at creating something beautiful out of basic components. Kat had a few other home-based businesses (hobbies) as she tried to keep busy as she was no longer able to work outside the home. Kat was a very good cook that enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Kat was a woman that cared for people and animals.

Kat is survived by her husband, Brian Clayton; her daughter, Anna Shreves, and her husband, Josh; her parents, Thomas Leonard and Linda Kay Dake; her siblings, Timothy Dake, Lisa Miller, and her husband, Anthony, and Lois Chapman, and her husband, Bill; and multiple nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephew.

Memorials may be directed to the family in loving memory of Kat.
