Loanne M Dodge

Funeral Services are Saturday, October 21, 2023, 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 517 SW Des Moines St, Ankeny, IA 50023. Visitation 9:00- 10:00, before service. Burial at Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley, Iowa 3:30 pm.

Loanne was born October 12, 1934 to LeRoy H. and Fern (Wiebert) Dirks. Graduated 1952 from Merrill High School in Merrill, Iowa and continued education at Sioux City, Iowa business school graduating in 1954. Loanne was a secretary at insurance company in Sioux City, Iowa and met love of her life, Gordon L. Dodge. Married November 7, 1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City, Iowa, and had two children Gary and Lisa Ann.

After raising kids, Loanne worked for the DMACC college president. Progressed to Legislative Service Bureau of Iowa, and ultimately become Code Editor for State of Iowa. Retired in 1999 after many wonderful years.

Loanne loved to travel the world with girlfriends and experience different cultures. Traveled well into her later years in life. She enjoyed gardening, watching mystery crime shows, reading a good book and playing bridge. Loanne and Gordon were skilled bridge players, and played in couple’s leagues. She was an avid patron of the arts, both Des Moines Symphony and Des Moines Opera. Loved theater and museums. Member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Ankeny since 1964. Loanne cherished family time above all else.

Loanne lived her life with grace, dignity and style. Treated people with kindness, respect, and honor. She was a true lady.

Loanne is survived by two children, Gary L. Dodge and wife, Jane Pauba Dodge of Des Moines, Iowa and Lisa Ann Dodge Mens and husband, Richard of Slater, Iowa; five grandchildren, Jessica Dodge of Des Moines, Morgan Dodge and wife, Riley of Pleasant Hill, Iowa. Victoria Mens of Kansas City, Missouri, Christina Sheets & husband Cole of Nevada, Iowa, and Alexandra Iacomini and husband, Dennison of Fort Worth, Texas. Three great grandchildren, Samuel and Lyla Jean Sheets and Cooper Iacomini. Also a brother, Harlan Dirks and wife, Joan of Indian Land, South Carolina. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon L. Dodge; parents, LeRoy and Fern (Webert) Dirks, and brother, Ordell Dirks.
